RE: Long tavel in popup, need advice.

Without knowing where you want to go, it is hard to give great advice.
I would suggest limiting your trip the first time out. If it works well, then maybe go further/longer next time.
Limit the amount of set up stuff if you plan on getting out early the next day. Everything you pull out in the evening adds time to your breakdown in the morning.
Make breakfast very simple, maybe even eat in the car after you pack up. Stuff like cereal, pop tarts, etc, can cut an hour out of your morning pack up.
Figure out where you want to go, then ask here for specific advice.
Focus on a few places to visit and really enjoy/explore them.

Leaky roof (ABS)

I have a coleman (fleetwood) with a 10 foot ABS roof. On both ends it appears that the rubber weather strip has a small gap. The sides are snug. It isn't bowig, it just looks like the strip has flattened out just a bit. Besides replacing the weather strip, does anyone think that putting down a thin strip of weatherseal tape is a good or bad idea?
I found out when we drove last week in some heavy rain, and found water on the cushions and in the storage cabinets, along the back end of the trailer.
Thanks for any thoughts.

RE: What is the big benefit of the highwall models?

You did mention towing costs. The highwalls are bigger and heavier, which means you need a more powerful tow vehicle, and your fuel mileage will be lower.
Good luck in your search.

RE: Dish Network customer svc bad !

I went through a similar situation too. When they gave me the song and dance to stay, I told them I lost my job and could not afford pay TV anymore. They did not bother me after that.
Direct TV has been great so far.

RE: Campground suggestions for Grand Teton/Yellowstone

If you need hookups, then outside the park it is. ( yeah I know about Fishing bridge, but this is last minute) If not, there may be a chance to get a site inside Yellowstone, like at Madison.
Staying in West is great, cuz it's a neat town, the Bear/Wolf habitat is great, and you are only 45 minutes from either Norris basin, and Old Faithful.
Best place is Grizzly RV park.

RE: Day Trips to Toronto from Niagara, things to see????

First, I think you need a passport to travel into Canada now.
Keep in mind Toronto is Huge!! Almost as big as Chicago, bigger than Philly. People drive fast.
Toronto has an amazing zoo.
CN tower is cool
Ontatio Place is a realy neat place to go. It is a lakefront park with lots to see and do in the summer, probably less after labor day.
Highways are good, but it is easy to miss an exit cuz of heavy traffic and high speeds. Everything is 25-40% more $$, like entertainment, parking, restaurants, etc.
Get a AAA tourbook and read it before you go. lots to see and do.

RE: My first nascar race

The merchandise trailers are usually high priced, but sometimes they have discounted items that aren't selling well. Get a pair of earplugs at Lowe's. The type that look like a stethascope work well.
Enjoy the 2 hour wait to get out of the lot after the race!
Don't forget to boo when they announce J. Gordon or Ky Busch.
And of course, cheer for Junior! :b

RE: Disney World or bust

Check out mousesavers.com for savings ideas.
I have been to WDW several times, and only camped once.It was a good experience, but it can be unbearable in the summer heat, and rains. (I went in Nov. and had great weather)
The best way to go is to stay onsite at a Disney hotel. You can fly in, and get a shuttle to and from WDW, and use Disney transportation. It cuts several days off your vacation length, saving you $100's. It also lets you devote as much time as possible to enjoying your time with the kids.

RE: one more tire question

Thanks for the responses.
Yes, I do need tires, they have considerable cracking in the sidewalls. Tread still looks new but the danger is still there with the dryrot cracks.
I checked out that new web site, and they quote around $70 each plus mounting for Goodyear marathon tires. tirerack.com I think?
I switched the worst of the two with the spare which has no cracking, but the other one has some cracks so I guess it's time to spend $250 for all three.
By the way, the dealer is a small family outfit who never is pushy and prices are pretty reasonable. They are really hurting now though with the dropoff in sales.

one more tire question

I called the RV place, and they reccommend replacing the entire tire and rims when the tires are due.
My Pop up is around 6 years old, and the tires are original, so they have never been touched.
What do you all think I should do? Do the rims lose their seal on first replacement?
He quoted me $125 each per set.

RE: furnace in Pu

My thermostat (under the dining table) has an on/off switch on the top, and a slide bar on the bottom to control the temp.
As long as you have propane, and either electric hookup, or a fully charged trailer battery, it should work. Keep in mind they can be quite loud when running. I cannot sleep when mine goes on, so I just use it for morning warmups.

RE: More Hamburgers......Fuddrucker's?

Those eateries are usually pretty good, but I steer clear of the bacteria bar. After seeing people sneeze and cough or put things back, or kids trying things and putting their hands all over things after wiping thier snotty noses, I pass. Just a bottle of ketckup for me, hopefully one that is not contaminated. :E

I think I have moved on

Nascar is a predictable bore, for the most part. The short tracks not so much, but they go so slow it is a bore also.
They don't crash enough, (like the truck series does) They don't fight in the pits anymore, they speak like news anchors when interviewed, etc.
So I now only watch drag racing, in FULL SURROUND SOUND!!!
Go Pedregon brothers!!
